Mid-Level Government Contract Staff Accountant, Part-time Part-time Contract - 40-50 hours a month This is a hybrid position requiring an individual living in the DMV area. Will need to meet in-person in North Bethesda, MD at times, but do not anticipate needing to be on-site every week. There is flexibility in hours. Some work can be done after hours and weekends, however, at times, will need to meet in North Bethesda, MD during regular business hours OR may need to produce a report during business hours. Description Our client, a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) focused on technology, healthcare, and business optimization, is seeking a Mid-Level Government Contract Staff Accountant to support them on a part-time basis. Responsibilities Apply a strong understanding of government/contracting accounting principles. Financial Program Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor financial programs, conduct in-depth analysis, and provide insightful recommendations for improvement. Communication and Interpersonal Skills : Effectively communicate financial information to management, division directors, and stakeholders both orally and in writing. Collaborate with various teams and individuals to ensure accurate reporting and compliance. Accounting System Proficiency: Demonstrate willingness and capability to work with any accounting system. Budget Preparation and Reporting: Prepare budgets for government branches, departments, and agencies. Generate comprehensive reports on taxes, spending, and overall finances, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Advisory Role: Provide guidance and advice to government agencies on spending, investment strategies, and asset management. Stay updated on tax codes, financial policies, and governmental accounting standards. Requirements Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in government/contract accounting. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices, coupled with decision-making and problem-solving abilities. A strong command of bookkeeping. Demonstrated proficiency in financial program monitoring and analysis. Proficient experience with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information. Must demonstrate honesty, integrity, and appreciation of differing opinions and perspectives, and be responsible, accountable, and collaborative. Ability to communicate effectively, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, customers, and leadership. Strong attention to detail.
