Serendipity Center, a private therapeutic school, provides specialized education and treatment to children and adolescents who lack the skills, confidence, and/or support to be successful learners. Annually Serendipity serves a variety of students, aged 6 to 21, and their families. What makes us different? Being a private non-profit, all the support and resources are right here on campus, in addition to having small class sizes, Teachers are provided with an in- classroom Program Assistant, and 1-2 additional Instructional Assistants minimum. Outside of the classroom a team of Behavioral Interventionists, Clinical Case Managers, SLP's, SPED Coordinators, MTSS Supervisors, an Art Therapist, Transition Coordinator, Therapeutic Adaptive Recreation Teacher, and a Therapeutic Garden Educator all add to our rich program. (the "Organization") and the continual growth of its activities and programs; (ii) oversees the overall design, development, and communication of the Organization's activities that ensure organizational excellence; and (iii) plans and develops organizational policies and objectives in accordance with directives from the Board of Directors (the "Board") and the Organization's mission, goals and School Improvement Plan through performing the following duties personally or directing the Organization's management team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Organizational Leadership: I. Internal Leadership: Ensure that the Organization complies at all times with federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and licensing requirements. Ensure the Organization's financial independence and stability. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Organization through directing and supervising the Organization's management team. Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement a strategic plan for the Organization covering a 3-5 year time period. Collaborate with the Organization's management team and Board to develop organizational policies and set organizational priorities. Solicit feedback from students and families, educational staff, administrative staff, management team, stakeholders, and Board. II. External Leadership: Ensure that the Organization's student admissions process is transparent and equitable. Monitor trends in the special education field and identify opportunities for the Organization to fulfill the needs of the education community. Serve as the "face" of the Organization with school districts, legislative and government bodies, donors, funders and families. Synthesize feedback from educational staff, administrative staff, student families, school districts and the community to share and implement goals with stakeholders. Personnel Oversight: I. With the Educational Staff: Support the work of the Treatment Director and School Principal, particularly in ways that enhance the Organization's culture, philosophies and approaches. Assess current programs and models, and develop appropriate new programs and models as needed, including special education and mental health programs. Maintain awareness of changing requirements for organizational compliance and support adherence to current and changing standards, including special education and mental health requirements. III. Board Collaboration: Act as the liaison between Board and staff to build and understanding and connection to further the Organization's mission. Engage with the Board Chair, Vice-Chair, and Executive Committee to create meeting agendas and set organizational priorities. Serves as administrative support for the Board and Board Collaborate with the Board to create short and long-range goals, objectives, plans and Serve on all Board committees, including the Executive QUALIFICATIONS: Education/experience: Bachelors with Masters preferred, and 6+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and Management Experience: 5+ years with direct and indirect supervision of highly experienced staff. Budget Management: 5+ years in developing and managing budgets in organizations with complex revenue and expense systems. Fundraising experience with individual donations and grant General Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from staff, parents/guardians, regulatory agencies, or members of the business Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to staff, top management, public groups, stakeholders, and Board. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Pass a Department of Education Background WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to assault by a student. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally may be very loud.
