The School District of Washington is currently seeking a candidate to fill a position in our maintenance department, specializing in HVAC. Depending on experience, the starting pay range is @ $21.10 - $25.00 per hour based on applicable experience. This position is benefit eligible, vacation(2 weeks paid annually), 12 PTO days annually, 9 paid holidays, 6 paid break days, and eligible for PEERS retirement. Job Title: Maintenance Specialist Department: Buildings and Grounds Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Non Exempt Salary Grade: Hourly Calendar: 12 months Note: Critical features of this job are described under the headings below. POSITION SUMMARY (Primary purpose of job) The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the district buildings in order to eliminate problems or interruptions to the educational program. This includes performing repairs in and outside the physical plants including operating equipment, operating District vehicles and machinery, and performing specialty maintenance tasks such as HVAC. SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE (Supervisory scope, district impact and budgetary responsibility) This position assumes responsibility for maintaining the District buildings in order to maintain safety and security. This includes maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment to inform the Maintenance Supervisor of needs in advance so as not to hinder the continued performance of building maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform) Perform maintenance tasks such as repairing HVAC systems, DDC controls, and large commercial units such as those found in commercial kitchens. Perform general labor inside and outside of District buildings including handling materials and supplies, moving and operating equipment, and maintaining assigned supplies and equipment. Safely operate a District vehicle and apply appropriate precautionary action when working on various equipment for maintenance and/or repair. Complete trainings as required to maintain appropriate certificates or licenses and to utilize new learning to enhance skills. Read and interpret maintenance plans, manuals, and documents associated with the assignment including operating technology for task management. Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor Regular and reliable attendance as it alligns to the scope of this position. OTHER DUTIES (duties which the incumbent can be expected to perform) Additional duties necessary to monitor events, or assist in an emergency situation. Assist with seasonal grounds work such as snow, ice and leaf removal. Perform plumbing, electrical, painting, or other repairs in buildings. Move furniture and equipment and assists in special events presentations. Occasional or sporadic duties such as participating on an interview committee, covering a duty of a colleague, etc. Participate in professional development activities. Regular and reliable attendance as it alligns to the scope of position. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervisory duties are limited to none, but could include identifying reportable events related to students and staff while completing maintenance duties. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options) Experience with DDC controls and large commercial units preferred. Safety, chemical, or related certifications/licensure preferred.
