Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools is dedicated to the intellectual and moral betterment of students and encourages staff members to take their own moral and intellectual improvement seriously as part of a supportive and excellence-driven culture. Our teacher assistants model good character and assist teachers in phonics-based literacy, Singapore math, and the great ideas and works of history, science, and literature. We seek candidates with a high standard of excellence, professional demeanor, a warm rapport with students, clear communication with staff members, and a can-do attitude to join our team. The ideal candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to partnering with his/her teacher to help students grow in wisdom and virtue. This position collaborates directly with his/her assigned lead teacher and reports to the Deans of Grammar school. Essential Functions: Collaborate directly with the teacher(s) to implement a content-rich classical education by following curriculum guidelines and expectations Substitute teach when teacher is absent (will be compensated at a higher pay rate) Assist with classroom "housekeeping" items such as collecting, organizing, and grading students' work and materials, copying worksheets, distributing materials and items, and keeping a tidy classroom) Build positive relationships with students by checking up on missing work, managing behaviors, executing small group and individual instruction, proctoring tests and evaluations, and meeting all accommodations Assist with daily operations of the school, such as supervision of beginning and end of day routines and procedures, lunch and recess times, and other transitional periods Be respectfully assertive in guiding and mentoring students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods Proctor or supervise tests on the annual testing cycle (beginning of year, middle of year, end of year) Proactively identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions Collaborate with Students Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others Maintain confidentiality in student records Maintain a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners Effectively communicate with supervisor and teammates Perform other related duties as directed Position Requirements: Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, superior organization, and computer skills Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned Eligibility to work in the United States After an offer is accepted, a satisfactory background check, as required by state law and Colorado Department of Education Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height by bending or leaning in order to teach each child Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach Must be able to supervise outdoors Benefits Available: Competitive compensation Employer-covered monthly premiums for specific health, dental, and vision plans for full-time employees Employer contributions to health savings accounts for those opting for high-deductible plans Percentage match to retirement accounts Assistance program featuring free counseling and advisory sessions Paid time off and sick pay Partnerships with institutions like Hillsdale College for ongoing professional growth and development Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc.
