Cardiology This position is: Full-Time Position Location: Lake Charles, LA JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Vascular Technologist GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of disorders affecting the vascular system. Perform non-invasive vascular exams in order to assess for vascular disease or disorders. Responsible for providing patient care and safety throughout the exam. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Verify patient by name and date of birth Acquire a thorough patient history to correlate the findings of the exam Verify diagnosis/reason for procedure for accuracy Enter patient information in computer system Enter set up parameters according to procedure requested Assist patient to prepare for test Connect cuffs to extremities as needed Perform specific exam ordered by physician Assist patient to redress if needed and inform patient of upcoming appointments and when to expect results Compile information that is gathered on an exam to give a preliminary impression Run reports to be read by ordering physician Type read reports Forward report to doctor's nurse and referring physician as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Training in vascular scanning techniques Knowledge of vascular disease Advanced knowledge of ultrasound equipment, procedures, and techniques. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in vascular technology, sonography, radiology, or similar. RVT through ARDMS or equivalent credential through ARRT or CCI. EXPERIENCE: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification will be advantageous. A minimum of 2 years experience as a vascular technologist. Advanced knowledge of ultrasound equipment, procedures, and techniques. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Clinic setting. Frequent telephone calls and other interruptions, which requires being able to handle a fast-paced work environment during entire time at work. Must maintain strict confidentiality and exercise professionalism when interacting with staff, managers, supervisors, physicians, external customers, etc. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: requires continuous standing, sitting, frequent walking, bending, and stooping. May require lifting 50 to 100 pounds. Exposure to possible Hazardous Materials/conditions and infectious diseases
