Position Announcement: Renewable Energy Faculty Position Description: The Renewable Energy Faculty will work as part of a two instructor team to prepare students for wind & solar power generation, industrial maintenance, and industrial automation careers. This position will be the subject matter expert on renewable energy and must continue to develop their knowledge, skills, and industry contacts to stay current in the field. This position must model the ethical and professional behavior expected in the industry and act as a role model for students. This position will work with instructors, students, and other administrative personnel as needed to maintain an engaging and safe working environment. This position will assist in the organization, planning, coordinating, and evaluating of the Wind Energy & Industrial Program at NJC. The primary responsibility will be instruction of program courses on and off the NJC campus. This will include developing curriculum, obtaining instructional materials and teaching aids, and working as part of a team to make improvements to courses. The Wind Energy and Industrial program will offer courses during the fall, spring, and summer semesters to keep students on track to graduation. This position should expect to teach summer classes as part of the two instructor team. The summer classes would be compensated in addition to the regular faculty contract. The program is developing a mobile training trailer. This position would be expected to participate in the development, building, and use of the trailer to provide training to students across Northeastern Colorado. This position will assist with the administration and implementation of any grants that provide resources to the program. In addition, this position will work cooperatively with other departments, programs, and services on campus to promote, market, and recruit an adequate number of students to sustain the program. Qualifications: Technical expertise in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment including, but not limited to, wind, solar, and battery storage systems. These experiences must enable the employee to perform the stated requirements and functions of the position Applicants who are less than fully qualified are encouraged to apply and will be considered Ability to read and explain both NEMA and IEC electrical schematics Ability to perform energy isolation and mitigation procedures per OSHA requirements Ability to perform at-height rescue procedures commonly used in wind and similar industries Must qualify for a Colorado Career and Technical Education Credential - (must be able to document a minimum of 4,000 hours of paid work experience in vehicle repair in the last 7 years) Must have a valid driver's license Associate degree in a related technical field Appropriate computer skills required in word processing, PowerPoint, & Excel spreadsheets Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of settings with a diverse audience Refined presentation and facilitation skills CONTRACT SPECIFICS: This is a full-time professional position beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. This is a full-time 163-day position with a salary range of $54,500 - $60,600, commensurate with education and experience. Competitive fringe benefit package available through SBCCOE. College/Community Profile: Northeastern Junior College, one of 13 member-colleges of the Community Colleges of Colorado, lies in the rural northeastern Colorado town of Sterling. The community of approximately 13,000 residents enjoys easy access to Denver, the Rocky Mountains and the western-agricultural lifestyle. Northeastern Junior College enrolls approximately 1,500 full and part-time students through a wide variety of majors in associate degree and certificate programs. Approximately 65-70% of our students indicated they plan to transfer on to complete a four-year degree while the other 30-35% of our students pursue careers after completing an AAS degree or certificate program. As a residential campus with six residence halls accommodating 550 students, the college attracts students from throughout Colorado, many states and several foreign countries. Approximately 50 full-time and 30 part-time faculty comprise the teaching staff.
