Cardiovascular Specialists This position is: Full Time Position Location: Lake Charles, LA JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: LPN/Stress Tech GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Supervise the stress portion of the nuclear stress test performed by patient while monitoring patient's heart rate, Blood pressure, heart rhythm, and symptoms. Per Physician's orders the patient will exercise (by walking treadmill) or will not exercise (non- walk using Lexiscan a vasodilator) to achieve dilation of coronary arteries. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with scheduling of stress test. Screen patients for their current medication contraindications to exercise stress testing and Lexiscan. Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, blood pressure, and records information. Know what medications the patient should discontinue for stress testing. Be familiar with medical conditions that interfere with exercise and lexiscan such as asthma. Take initial BP, heart rate, resting EKG and vitals prior to beginning exercise and recognize contraindications of such to exercise. Hook patient to 12 lead EKG and be able to operate treadmill system for testing. Monitor patient in recovery and record all information on stress test worksheet. Be familiar with location of emergency crash cart, 02 and emergency medications. Be aware and trained in radiation safety and proper precautions taken during stressing. Inventories supplies both pharmacological and other clinical materials and notify proper personnel. Complies and keys in data from stress test in to EMR system in computer to maintain office and patient records. Be able to comply with and perform any additional job duties that are pertinent to the job. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Louisiana LPN license and IV certification are required. Basic knowledge of telemetry is required. Two years of clinical experience preferred.
